Upon soliciting several locations for financial support one common theme resonated: there is little, if any, funds available for the arts. The AnA Project board met and decided that it was their responsibility to raise the funds needed to supply talent and instructors needed to bring art performances and workshops to people of all ages from all walks of life.
One of the goals of The AnA Project is to team up talented individuals with facilities within a 3-5 mile radius of where they work or live so they can conduct art workshops or performances in order to spread joy. The idea is that these artists will make an impact within their community while building lasting relationships.
The AnA Project recently visited Bethlehem Village residents in Flourtown, Pa. Anthe, artist and executive director, went beforehand to introduce the concept of The AnA Project to the residents. At the actual workshop, Anthe was joined by Venus Dance Co. 2 and Carrie Brzezenski. They performed several of their award winning dances at the senior residence.
Later that week, Anthe and Carrie returned and Anthe facilitated a Drawing-from-Music and then a Drawing-from-Dance workshop. Carrie danced and was the moving model as Anthe instructed on how to draw the music and the movement of the dancing model. The residents enjoyed themselves.
A return workshop was scheduled and during this third visit the residents took their drawings from music and dance and created greeting cards. During this workshop one of the residents wrote a haiku and gave it to Anthe. The haiku is now used to define the joy of participating in these workshops.
Currently, The AnA Project is coordinating the bussing of youngsters to sing for seniors, planning on spreading joy through workshops and performances as they visit several senior living communities, nursing homes, retirement and art centers for the upcoming year, along with providing workshops for Face to Face’s children’s summer camp, Laurel House and other locations within our community.
