A Great BIG thank you! Historic Bethlehem Pike Give Back Program 's - The Shop for a Cause Event was a great success.
Scarlet Begonias, Barbara B's Jewels, Halligan's Pub, Dan Helwig Realtors, Judy Weisman and all who came out to support us along with all those that gave donations!
We raised $1428.00 towards our goal!!! August was a great month...This will provide workshops and performances to many people.
Thanksgiving is a time of reflection and gratitude, and we are thankful for so much.
We completed our first year of the AnA project in the spring. Thanks to your support we were able to touch many lives with the concept of drawing from movement through workshops and performances.
Carrie S. Brzezinski has generously donated her dance studio for the first year and continues to support us in this manner into the future.
Moving forward we are excited to announce the official partnering of Venus Dance Company 1&2 with the AnA Project.
Anthe, as director and primary artist of the AnA Project, working with Carrie, director of Venus Dance co., choreographer and dancer, collaborated their differing art forms creating an amazing show at Temple University on November 7th and November 8th. Three astounding performances consisting of over thirteen art pieces by Anthe were utilized as backdrops and live motion of Drawing- from-Dance. The Drawing-from-Dance and backdrops occurred during the dance performances by Carrie and Venus Dance Company 1 and 2.
This is the first of many theatrical experiences where the works created by visual artists will be integrated into the dance as part of the performance. This brings the performance aspect of the AnA Project merging mind and body into one dynamic work of art a realization.
In the upcoming year Anthe and Carrie will be working to provide drawing from dance workshops to Carson Valley Children Aid [orphanage], Bethlehem Senior Living, and other venues that are currently in the works.
Thanks again for all your support and have a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving.
Artist & Director of the AnA Project
It’s been a whirl wind couple of months.
In October we had a preview opening at Scarlet Begonias in Flourtown to introduce The AnA Project and promote our upcoming events. A few weeks later we presented The AnA Project through POST, Philadelphia Open Studio Tours. Anthe had a retrospective of work on display . Starting with her journey's throughout France, Greece, Maine, the Southwestern states, and Canada where she began her current work on movement. Joining her in her pop-up studio for POST was Amy Margaret Unks, the principle dancer for the AnA Project.
Amy Margaret and Anthe, artist and instructor gave their first performance. Amy danced on the hour while Anthe drew her movements. Anthe’s drawings were projected and unfolded as they occurred before the audiences eyes. Amy and Anthe were accompanied by live music of Angelo Reid on percussion.
The works created during this live performance have been made into digital collages which were later auctioned off during the first Annual Silent Auction and Exhibition in November.
Joe Borelli and Suzanne Sheeder of Chestnut Hill Gallery graciously provided the space for our first Annual Silent Auction and Exhibition. We had a wonderful turnout. Lots of items were generously donated, bid upon and taken home. (Full List of Donors Click Here) It was a joyous occasion with great food, drink, and live music.
We were fortunate enough to have Cheri France of the Pennsylvania Flute Choir, who played classical and jazz music. Later in the evening Kitty Kelly and Mike Albrecht played Irish tunes on the guitar and violin. During the evening’s activities a live auction ensued. Several artworks by Anthe were actively sought, bid in and have found new homes. One such item is the “ Three Graces –trio” which was a digital collage made from the live performance during POST two weeks before. This piece is pictured to the right above. The piece pictured to the left is titled " Pretty in Pink. It too was created during POST. Both can be purchased in 8 x 10" 8.5 x 11" sizes for $35 & $45 unframed.
